SENATE RULES COMMITTEE April 17, 1996 2:57 p.m. MEMBERS PRESENT Senator Mike Miller, Chair Senator Bert Sharp Senator Judy Salo MEMBERS ABSENT Senator Drue Pearce, Vice Chair Senator Jim Duncan COMMITTEE CALENDAR SENATE BILL NO. 296 "An Act requiring fingerprint criminal background checks before certain persons may be employed in a nursing home or assisted living facility; and prohibiting the hiring or retention of certain nursing home and assisted living facility employees convicted of specified offenses." CS FOR SPONSOR SUBSTITUTE FOR HOUSE BILL NO. 387(JUD) am "An Act rearranging existing provisions of AS 47.10 into chapters separately addressing the topics of children in need of aid, delinquent minors, and the institutions, facilities, and management, administration, and oversight of programs relating to minors, and conforming references and making other conforming changes due to that rearrangement; amending the manner of determining support obligations for children in need of aid and delinquent minors; amending the purpose of delinquency provisions; amending hearing procedures used in delinquency proceedings; amending provisions relating to enforcement of a restitution order entered against a minor; setting out the considerations to be given by a court in making its dispositional orders for minors adjudicated delinquent; authorizing municipalities to establish curfews for minors by ordinance; relating to enforcement of truancy under the compulsory school attendance law; and amending Rule 23(d), Alaska Delinquency Rules." Hearing no discussion, he asked for the pleasure of the committee. SENATOR SALO moved and asked unanimous consent SB 296 be approved for calendaring. Hearing no objection, it was so ordered. CHAIRMAN MILLER brought CSSSHB 387(JUD) am (JUVENILE CODE REVISION/CURFEW/TRUANCY) before the committee. Hearing no discussion, he asked for the pleasure of the committee. SENATOR SHARP moved and asked unanimous consent CSSSHB 387(JUD am be approved for calendaring. Hearing no objection, it was so ordered. CHAIRMAN MILLER brought CSHB 480(HES) (PHYSICIAN ASSISTANTS) before the committee. SENATOR SALO inquired if problems with the legislation had been worked out. CHAIRMAN MILLER responded there were no problems in this particular piece of legislation. There was going to be amendment offered in Senate Labor & Commerce Committee, which would have been a problem, but the amendment was withdrawn. SENATOR SALO moved and asked unanimous consent CSHB 480(HES) be approved for calendaring. Hearing no objection, it was so ordered. There being no further business to come before the committee, the meeting was adjourned at 2:59 p.m.
